Head of the Department of Experimental Audiology at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg
The main focus of the research of my department is on human auditory perception. We use psychoacoustic experiment as well as effective auditory modelling to study the mechanisms underlying auditory perception in complex acoustical environments, perception of environmental and technical sounds. We are interested in understanding of masking phenomena as well as absolute ratings with respect to the elicited sensations (e.g., loudness or tonality). We are also doing research on audiological techniques to reliably assess the health of the auditory system and we study perception of spatially distributed sounds and music with cochlear implants.
