The central goal of our research is to investigate physiological and pathophysiological mechanisms of cognitive processes and human behavior with a strong focus on the neural basis of reward processing and decision making, all based on a systemic neuroscientific level. For this purpose we combine functional and anatomical neuroimaging (MRI, PET) and noninvasive (EEG, MEG) and invasive (LFP) electrophysiology. Using various connectivity measure we investigate in particular the interaction of distributed brain structures in order to understand basic brain functions both in healthy conditions as well as in neurological diseases (such as dementia and stroke).
