We are interested in the collective dynamics of neural activity at all levels. At the perceptual level, we seek to identify dynamical architectures that can reproduce the stochastic timing of perception in human observers. At the whole-brain level, we study how different (steady-state) task conditions alter the correlational structure of functional imaging activity. At the level of spiking populations, we study how different connection topologies can enhance the representation of inputs. Our ultimate goal is to understand how spontaneous neural activity can interact with external inputs to perform statistical inference about the generative causes of such inputs.
