Focus of present research, that I’m continuing after my retirement, are neurohistological indicators of neuroinflammation in post-mortem brains of patients suffering from schizophrenia or affective disorders. For these studies whole brain serial sections from the Magdeburg brain bank are stained immunohistocemically for e.g. microglia cell, lymphocytes and plasma cells. Another research area, that I´m performing as current head of the Salus-Institut, is the neurobiological foundations of human violent behaviour.
