Talk and Panel Discussion with Anja Matthes, Open Access Commissioner of OVGU and Ralf Regener, Head of the Department Media Editing of the Library

(bilingual German and English)

Since the “Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities” in 2003, 15 years have passed, but this year the attention to the topic increases significantly. Probably we will soon see a paradigm change – from the perspective of science long overdue, from the perspective of the big publishers the end of a lucrative business model? Depending on the subject and personal mindset, the view on Open Access Publishing can be quite variable. Publishers and research institutions are struggling for a fair solution, while funding organizations push for OA.

It will be interesting to see how the negotiations between the scientific institutions and the big publishers go – at the moment, many questions are still open.

We invite you to discuss the various perspectives.

At the OVGU, the topic is handled expertly by the library team, and a lot of support is offered. The Open Access Commissioner of OVGU, Ms. Anja Matthes, and the Head of Department Media Editing, Mr. Ralf Regener, will present the situation in general and at the OVGU in particular. In a panel discussion, there will be an opportunity for questions and exchange. The Graduate Academy team will be present to explain the offers of the Graduate Academy to doctoral students and postdocs. Afterwards, you are welcome to stay for a coffee for networking and chatting.
