Together with The MathWorks, Inc., the LIN have organized an inhouse seminar “What’s New for MATLAB in Neuroscience” which will take place in the Hebb-Room on Thursday, 22nd of March. Starting is at 9:30 a.m.
All users and interested persons are kindly invited to join the seminar.  The aim is to meet people from Mathworks  for a discussion of new developments, plus time for Q&A and to share any MATLAB feedback.

The main topic and agenda for the first 1,5 hours will be the following:

1. Introduction to MathWorks and MATLAB for Neuroscience
2. What’s new in MATLAB for Neuroscience
3. Q&A

The content will be delivered by Vijay Iyer who is the MathWorks Industry Neuroscience Contributor. Mr. Vijay Iyer has worked for over 15 years at the intersection of engineering and neuroscience research.. During his PhD, he developed the first two-photon random-access microscope for neuroscience imaging and developed a MATLAB analysis pipeline for a new type of two-photon fluorescence spectroscopy. Soon after his PhD, he began work at the new HHMI/Janelia Research Campus, and starting in 2008 he became the lead developer of the MATLAB-based ScanImage software for controlling two-photon microscopes used widely for live brain imaging experiments at cellular resolution. From 2008-2013, the ScanImage tool improved to support video-rate microscopy (in MATLAB!) and grew to be used by over 200 labs worldwide and 3 commercial microscopy manufacturers. In 2014, Vijay founded Vidrio Technologies, to further the development of ScanImage software and served as its first CEO. Vijay joined MathWorks in 2015 as its first Neuroscience Community Liaison, to act as a connection point between MathWorks and the fast-growing neuroscience research field. Vijay holds a BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from Rice University in Houston, TX.
