Ladies Night for Women in Engineering Sciences

The Ladies Night for Women in Engineering Sciences is part of an OVGU series of lectures aimed at promoting young female academics, which focuses on the career paths of women. The event was initiated by the Faculty of Process and Systems Engineering (FVST) and the Student Council of Otto-von-Guericke-University (OVGU) Magdeburg in 2012 as FVST Ladies Night and started with around 20 participants.

Today, the Ladies Night for Women in Engineering Sciences complements the Career Day for Women in Life Sciences, which has been held annually at the medical faculty and the Leibniz Institute in Magdeburg since 2014, with contributions from the engineering area of the MINT subjects at the OVGU. The event is aimed primarily at female students, doctoral candidates and young scientists from the engineering sector of the MINT disciplines. It has been taking place in cooperation with the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems Magdeburg since 2016 and with the Fraunhofer Institute Magdeburg since 2021.
