Brainhack Magdeburg 2021

A small group of scientists spontaneously got together to become part of Brainhack Global 2021 at short notice. In cooperation with Peer Herholz from the University of Frankfurt, we would like to invite you to our Local Magdeburg & Frankfurt Brainhack 2021. There will now be daily updates via this page or via email if you are registered for the event.

This introductory tutorial covers the very first steps how to start working with Python (installation, different IDEs, where to get help, and resources to learn python) and brings you closer to the first coding.

3:30 p.m. Tutorial 2: fMRI in Python – Alexander Weuthen

This tutorial will discuss how to use the Python programming language in the analysis of neuroimaging data, from preprocessing to statistical analysis using Nipy, Nipype and Nilearn.

1:15 p.m. Tutorial 3: Introduction to R – Elisa Lancini

This short tutorial will give an overview of the basis of the syntax, common functions and basic operations in R. We will take the first steps together to discover the basics of R programming and get solid foundations for future learning. The tutorial will be followed by a hands-on part where you can download the code shown during the tutorial and try to use it with your own data.

2:15 p.m. Tutorial 4: Meta-Analysis in R – Elisa Lancini

 During this tutorial you will be walked through the process of conducting a meta-analysis: from preparing the data in excel to the functions used in R to assess outliers and complete the effect-size calculation.
